Medical Camp – bring health to the shanty towns with World Friends

Not always do the sick people in the Nairobi shanty towns succeed in reaching the Neema Hospital to receive the right treatments. For this reason World Friends has organized “Medical Camps”: missions by the Neema Hospital staff for free examinations in the slum areas.

How the Medical Camps are run:
World Friends workers and co-workers present in the Babadogo shanty towns inform the local population that a day of free examinations is programmed there, run by the medical staff from Neema Hospital. Thanks to word-of mouth communication, the Medical Camp also includes the inhabitants of the nearby shanty towns (Huruma, Kariobangi, Lucky Summer …)

The aim of World Friends is to organize a medical Camp each month.

A Medical Camp consists in:
1 doctor
1 assistant doctor
2 nurses
1 administrative assistant for registering patients

Activities carried out:
  • Examinations and medical consultations
  • Free distribution of medicines, including instructions on their use,  for all patients examined
  • Health education information for the prevention of the most common pathologies
  • Information on Neema Hospital services to let people from the poorest sections of the population know about the services available at the World Friends multifunctional centre.

Help World Friends to extend their care to the heart of the Nairobi slums!
