Support to AIDS orphans in Archers Post

Background...

The village of Archer's Post is on the road to the north, which comes up in Ethiopia, about 300 km from Nairobi, in Samburu District. This is a semi-arid region, the edge of nature reserves of Shaba, Buffalo Springs and Samburu, and limits of an area reserved for military training.
About 15,000 inhabitants, consists for the most part for nomadic shepherds from Samburu and Turkana.
The prevalence of AIDS in this area reaches percentage of 12%: the causes of high prevalence of disease lie in the presence of military personnel in the area, traffic intensity on the road, and low education of the population.
Since the beginning of the epidemic of AIDS the number of children orphaned in the area grew steadily: there is a very high number of families consisting of a progenitor (often a grandmother) with a variable number of grandchildren (from 2 to 7). These families are extremely vulnerable in social, economic and health terms.

The main objective of the project is to improve the health status of the population of Archers Post in reference to diseases related to HIV / AIDS, increasing support to orphans of AIDS and the prevention of the spread of HIV/AIDS through health education and training.
