On the 18th of March at 9 p.m. Enrico Minasso presented his photograph book “Neema”, edited by Impressioni Grafiche, in the hall "San Guido" in Acqui Terme.
In this occasion, the author projected on a screen a selection of his photos and, in the meantime, he illustrated them by explaining the setting in which he has worked.
There were Dr. Antonio Melotto, who has been performing corrective surgery for several years in Africa with World Friends, the publisher Monica Mazzocchi, World Friends local representative Prf Angelo Arata and some sponsors: Maurizio Tacchella, Grillo and E-Pharma from Trento; thanks to them this work has been published.
Through the photos of the book, Enrico lead the audience into a journey throughout the places wherein World Friends is active.
Enrico Manasso’s book means to give a contribution to the second phase of the Neema Project, which is aimed to build and equip the Maternity Department of the Neema Hospital, in order to give to women living in the slums and to their babies assistance before, during and after delivery. World Friends plans to open the Maternity Ward to the patients by autumn 2010.
Neema is a charming word in Kiswahili, the language spoken in Kenya and in many other african countries. It means “Man’s work and God’s blessing”.
World Friends, the Association created by Dr. Morino from Acqui Terme, who has been working in Kenya for several years, gave this name to a very important project held by World Friends, that is the realization of a polyvalent health centre able to grant free health service to the poorest patients from the slums.
